About the Facilitator:
Abigail Ladd is a health coach, fitness trainer, yoga teacher, and fat lady! She have been working in fitness spaces most of my life, but her relationship with food & movement wasn’t always a healthy one. Shestruggled with an eating disorder for most of her life and sadly that created a disordered relationship with fitness.
In recovery, she not only had to heal her relationship with food, but I also had to rediscover a healthy relationship with movement, which is no easy task in our fitness culture of “no pain, no gain.” It was a slow and intentional process. It involved a lot of self-compassion, permission, and an anti-diet & Health at Every Size approach.
It is now her life’s mission to help others make sustainable changes to their life while healing their relationship with food and movement. She is committed to reducing barriers to access and making health & fitness spaces more inclusive, welcoming, and completely shame-free!

We know you because we’ve been you
Are you seeking support from someone who understands what you are going through? Through EDF’s mentorship program, we will match you with a mentor who has walked the path and understands the complexity of the recovery journey. This 10-week program will provide one-on-one support during weekly connections. We strongly believe in the power of connection, meaningful conversations, and creating a community of like-minded individuals – factors we attribute to living a life in/towards recovery. We welcome individuals 16+ from all states in the US. Pairs may meet virtually or in person.
We at EDF are absolutely blown away by the massive interest in our blossoming mentorship program. We have received an unprecedented number of applications from members of the community who want to pursue recovery with us.
Please note that this program has a limited number of available mentors, so there is no guarantee you will be paired. Mentee applicants not accepted this round may re-apply next quarter. You must be at least 16 years of age and a resident of the United States to apply.
How do I apply?
Submit your application by December 12th
Please take a minute to read three important points before submitting your application:
1. Mentee applications will be available from today through Tuesday, December 12th. Please take your time to fill out your application. The more details you give us, the better we get to know you! Please refrain from providing one line answers.
2. Due to the high demand for this program, applications will only be accepted between today and December 12th. If you submit your application after these dates, it will not be reviewed.
3. This program has a limited number of available mentors, so there is no guarantee that you will be paired. Mentee applicants not accepted this round may be encouraged to re-apply next quarter.
Are you ready to take the next step?
Select the form below and return via email by December 12th to EDF Staff: cengels@eatingdisorderfoundation.org
- If your application is not approved for this quarter, an EDF staff member will contact you to discuss how we can continue to support your journey.
- If your application is approved to the next step. You will receive an email to set up an application review so we can get to know you better.

The month of October is dedicated to a fundraising campaign that makes all of our programs possible. This month, we want to invite you to reflect on a question that will change lives: Why support EDF?
Each of us has a personal reason that drives our desire to give. It could be a memory of a loved one, a passion for a program you volunteer to support, or a vision for recovery for yourself or others. Here at EDF, we believe that discovering your “why” is just as important as the act of giving itself.
Here’s Why Your “Why” Matters:
Personal Connection: When you understand your reason for donating, it becomes a powerful motivator. Is it the joy of helping others? The hope for a better community? Whatever your reason, it inspires you to take action.
Creating Lasting Impact: Your donation supports educational presentations, resource navigation, support groups, mentorship, professional training, and more. Imagine your “why” in action—transforming lives and making a tangible difference in our community.
Building a Community of Givers: When you share your “why,” you inspire others to think about their own reasons for giving. Together, we can create a ripple effect of generosity and compassion.
We Want to Hear From You!
As we launch our campaign, we encourage you to reflect on your personal “why.” What motivates you to support our mission? Share your story with us by email or in social media, and you may inspire someone else to find their own reason to give!
Ready to turn your “why” into action? Click here to donate today. Your support can bring hope and change to those who need it most.
Thank you for considering this journey with us. Together, let’s uncover our collective “whys” and create a brighter future.
P.S. If you’re unable to donate right now, we’d love for you to share your story with friends and family. Your voice can help inspire others to reflect on their own “why”!
