What we have learned during COVID: How exercise informs recovery
Jul 16 @ 5:00 pm – 6:00 pm

Join us for our second workshop with Alsana. This month, Dr. Brian Cook will review present treatment approaches for exercise and eating disorders, speak to the impact of current events, and help identify ways to address exercise in eating disorder recovery.

When: Thursday, July 16th

Time: 5:00-6:00 PM Mountain Time

Where: Zoom

Dr. Cook developed an original line of research examining the etiological role, management, and therapeutic potential of exercise in eating disorders. His education at the Universities of Rhode Island and Florida and a NIMH post-doctoral fellowship at the Neuropsychiatric Research Institute in Fargo, ND allowed him to train under experts in the eating disorder field. This has resulted in presenting research at international conferences (e.g., Eating Disorders Research Society, the Academy for Eating Disorders), chairing conference paper sessions, publications in leading journals (e.g., International Journal of Eating Disorders) and book chapters, and a keynote address at the IAEPD 2017 Symposium.

Coffee and Conversation: Mindfulness Matters
Jan 28 @ 5:00 pm – 6:00 pm

Mindfulness Matters

What is the deal with mindfulness?
Why are so many people talking about it these days?
Most importantly…can it really make a difference in your life?

The simple answer is that it can, and the scientifically proven list of benefits including less stress, greater calm, increased attention span and improved relationships, continues to grow. The good news is that mindfulness is simple. It is not always easy, but anybody can begin the practice and feel its positive effects relatively quickly.

This interactive and fun mindfulness training will:
• Help demystify mindfulness, providing research and information on what it is and is not.
• Discuss how meditation plays into mindfulness.
• Include a minute or two of simple practice to experience mindfulness for yourself.
• Provide ideas to increase your mindfulness in daily life.

*Great for any level of experience.
